About Us

In partnership with the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities (FCSUA), the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at UMass Boston, in collaboration with The University of South Florida, have implemented a series of activities to expand the range of college options for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) across the state of Florida. 

Activities have included a statewide needs assessment, the creation of two on-line training modules, a five-part speaker series, a catalogue of promising practices, and the implementation of an educational awareness campaign to highlight the benefits of higher education for students with IDD.

College Matters Florida Youth Ambassador Summer Program now accepting students!

The College Matters Florida Project is holding an eight-week online program and looking for students or recent graduates with ID to participate. The program prepares students to get ready to promote inclusive college across Florida through public speaking and outreach. This is paid position for students and is a great resume stuffer! College Matters Florida: Administrator Perspectives

In this short video, College Matters Florida interviewed administrators from Broward College, Santa Fe College, and the University of South Florida. The administrators spoke about the value of college for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the positive impact their participation has on the campus community. It is a must-see video for any college considering starting an inclusion college program as well as for colleges not considering a program.
